Newsletter April 2022 – Tech Task Force

Have you heard about CHTA’s newest committee? Our newly established Technology Task Force is focused on researching and educating members on Hospitality 5.0 tools focused on improving revenue and driving efficiencies.

With a specific emphasis on Micro-, Small-, and Medium-sized Tourism Entities (MSMTEs) and independent tourism organizations, the overarching responsibility of the CHTA Technology Task Force is to explore digital assets and tools, such as tokens and cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, big data, digital marketing, virtual reality and augmented reality.

The objective of the task force is to provide recommendations to CHTA members and share intelligence about technology’s evolution and application to the hospitality sector.

The task force is co-chaired by CHTA 2nd Vice President, Sanovnik Destang of Bay Gardens Resorts, and Jeremy Jones of Sandals Resorts, and includes members from diverse IT and marketing backgrounds.

The task force recently brokered a groundbreaking three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Hospitality Finance and Technology Professionals Association (HFTP). HFTP is recognized as the voice of the finance and technology segments of the hospitality industry with members and stakeholders spanning the globe. CHTA members will enjoy substantial benefits from this partnership over the next three years, which include:

  • HFTP member discount for the duration of the agreement
  • Complimentary show passes for HITEC North America, the world’s largest hospitality technology conference
  • Discounts for HFTP designations: Certified Hospitality Technology Professional (CHTP®), and Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE®)
  • Exclusive access to hospitality technology education sessions in partnership with CHTA

For the first time ever, an opportunity will be extended to hospitality technology entrepreneurs from the Caribbean to apply for the Entrepreneur 20X Orlando pitching competition, with a waiver of the application fee.

To find out more about the benefits of this new partnership with HFTP and about the task force’s upcoming plans for a series of Technology Master Classes, be sure to subscribe to CHTA’s social media channels.
