CHTA is part of an established COVID-19 Caribbean Tourism Task Force, comprising CHTA, CARPHA, CTO and the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC) – to coordinate tourism industry’s readiness and response efforts. The Task Force’s mandate is to coordinate and share information, the compilation and dissemination of support tools, provide training, and to advance best practices by companies and destinations.  Efforts to date and pending initiatives can be found at:  COVID-19 Efforts.

Caribbean Tourism Fireworks

CHTA will be hosting a series of virtual press conferences via Facebook Live to provide insight on destination reopening tourism plans during the pandemic. Areas of focus will be on  destination specific readiness: preparing employees and visitors for tourism’s return; where questions can be posed by those in attendance. Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Information Overview

The Caribbean Public Health Agency is committed to promoting the health and safety for travelers coming to the Caribbean. Improve the health and well being of both our visitor and local population by promoting Healthier, Safer Tourism.

The program has built capacity and equipped countries with regional tools that supports preparedness and response to public health threats.

CARPHA Tools:
Monitoring Systems for Hotels and Accommodation Providers (THiS)
Established by CARPHA in collaboration with CHTA and CTO, the Tourism Health Information System (THiS) as a Monitoring, Surveillance, Confidential Resource for Hotels and Guest Houses, THiS is a real-time web-based application for facilities housing stay over arrivals such as hotels and guesthouses to monitor the health of their visitors and staff. The information serves as an early warning and response system for hotels/guest houses to monitor and rapidly respond to public health issues that may occur at their establishment. Guests/staff from participating hotels/guesthouses can report their symptoms to staff and complete a short online questionnaire.

Steps required:

  • Participate in Training.  Upon completion of COVID-19 Essential Health Guidelines for Hospitality Sector  session, participants will receive their Certificate of Completion.  (Please note information under Caribbean Tourism Health Safety Training Series below.)  
  • ThiS (a minimum of 30 days of active reporting is required even if there are zero cases)
