Caribbean Hotelier of the Year, Adam Stewart, recognized with Order of Distinction in Jamaica

Adam Stewart, recognized with Order of Distinction in JamaicaSandals Resorts International chief executive Adam Stewart has been awarded with the Order of Distinction (Commander Class) for outstanding contribution to Jamaica’s tourism and the hotel industry. The Order of Distinction is a national honor bestowed by the government of Jamaica upon citizens who render outstanding and important services to the country.

Stewart was officially presented with the insignia yesterday, National Heroes’ Day, at the National Honors and Awards Ceremony held at King’s House, the official residence of the governor-general. He was among several Jamaicans to receive national honors in recognition of their contributions to various sectors, ranging from education, health, agriculture and of course tourism.

Stewart, who has been at the helm of Sandals Resorts International for the last ten years and has filled multiple leadership roles within the sector, including first vice president for the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association, said he was humbled to receive such a prestigious award.

 

Josef Forstmayr Nominated For Hospitality Jamaica ‘Tourism Personality of The Year’

Josef Forstmayr Nominated For Hospitality Jamaica 'Tourism Personality of The Year'Josef Forstmayr, managing director of Round Hill Hotel and Villas,  has been nominated for the premier award Tourism Personality of the Year, to be presented at the second Hospitality Jamaica Awards ceremony on November 19. Named after The Gleaner’s fortnightly publication Hospitality Jamaica, the event “recognises organisations and individuals who have contributed significantly to improving the quality and experience of the hospitality industry in Jamaica” in 12 categories.

Under his stewardship, Round Hill Hotel and Villas has won many prestigious international, Caribbean and Jamaican awards and accolades, including the World Travel Awards’ Best Villas for six consecutive years, and they have been featured in major publications such as Conde Nast Traveler’s ‘Gold List’ and Travel and Leisure’s ‘World’s Best List’. Forstmayr, has also been honoured at several levels. In 2005, he was made a member of the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer for his contribution to Jamaica’s tourism industry; twice named Hotelier of the Year by JHTA and CHTA ; and Caribbean Hotel and Tourist Association (CHTA) Hotelier of the Year.

 

Coco Reef-Tobago Wins World Travel Award for Leading Caribbean Hotel

Coco Reef-Tobago Wins World Travel Award for Leading Caribbean HotelFor the 13th consecutive year, Coco Reef–Tobago has been awarded the World Travel Award for the “Caribbean’s Leading Hotel”. Coco Reef–Tobago is owned by Bermudian hotel developer John Jefferis, who also owns Island Resorts International Ltd and the Coco Reef–Bermuda. Coco Reef–Tobago won the award after beating 14 other respected nominees from across the Caribbean including the Four Seasons Resort Nevis, West Indies; Parrot Cay by COMO, Turks & Caicos; Sandals Emerald Bay Golf, Tennis and Resort, Bahamas; as well as resorts in Anguilla, Barbados, Antigua, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Barts, Jamaica and Saint Lucia. Coco Reef–Tobago was also named Tobago’s Leading Resort for 2016, and was nominated for the 2016 World’s Leading Hotel. Click here to read more.
