Caribbean Hoteliers Look To Cuba Following Challenging Winter Season

CHTA officials are working with Cuba’s government to help create the country’s first hotel and tourism association, said Frank Comito, CHTA’s chief executive. The Cuba initiative is one of several programs CHTA is launching to address what has to date been a challenging season for Caribbean hoteliers. One year after posting visitor growth of seven percent, outpacing the global market, many Caribbean hotels and resorts report first-quarter occupancy declines following unusual challenges throughout the 2016 winter season, traditionally the region’s peak travel period.
