CHATA MCB Breakfast Meeting AirBnB

The Curaçao Hotel and Tourism Association (CHATA) hosted its second breakfast meeting of 2016 at Santa Barbara Resort, sponsored by Maduro & Curiel’s Bank. The Breakfast meeting featured a presentation by Mr. Shawn Sullivan of AirBnB who explained the foundation and business model of AirBnB.

AirBnB sees the Caribbean as an important market. They are seeing growth in key markets including Curaçao, Barbados, Aruba, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. The AirBnB travelers are looking for an ‘’live like a local’’ and ‘’belong anywhere’’ experience which makes the Caribbean an ideal AirBnB market. Therefore AirBnB will be planning up with the government to regulate the alternative accommodations and possibly collect taxes in Curaçao.
