CHTA Celebrated its First Caribbean305

Caribbean305 is the newest addition to the Taste of the Caribbean week-long activities. Taste of the Caribbean is the region’s premier culinary competition and forum for food and beverage professionals. Caribbean305, which took place on Saturday, June 3rd at Jungle Island,  is a culinary and cultural celebration of all things Caribbean.

To the delight of all attendees sixteen Caribbean national teams offered delicious tapas selections and signature drinks showcasing the flavors of their nations as Caribbean music and dance swirled in the background.

Ambassadors for the event were Chef Allen Susser, a James Beard Award winner known for his New Florida cooking, and Bahamian Marv Cunningham, two-time Hall of Fame Taste of the Caribbean Bartender of the Year.

Patrons hopped around the Caribbean, sampling food from Anguilla, the Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curaçao, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Martin, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos, and the U.S. Virgin Islands at the event.

“We’ve got to let the world know that the Caribbean islands are all different. They have their unique architecture, music, cultures, heritage — and food,” said Frank Comito, CHTA’s CEO.
