CSHAE Hosts Annual Leadership Conference Sponsored by ARDA ROC

The Caribbean Society of Hotel Association Executives (CSHAE) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Leadership Conference, sponsored by American Resort Development Association – Resort Owners’ Coalition (ARDA-ROC), in Puerto Rico prior to the opening of Caribbean Travel Marketplace.

Association executives from 13 hotel associations participated in the AGM and Leadership training including professionals from Anguilla, Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, BVI, Curacao, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, Trinidad, Turks & Caicos and US Virgin Islands. The Leadership Conference ASAE training, sponsored by ARDA-ROC, CSHAE and CHTA, featured ASAE professional development sessions by Adriana Serna, ASAE Facilitator and CHTA’s Director of Communications.

During the course of the AGM meeting, the executives discussed to the NHTA’s top priorities for the next two years such as but not limited to Sharing Economy, Air Capacity, Disaster Management (to include Crime, Natural Disasters, Global Warming and Krypto /Bit Currency.

CSHAE also elected the following board members to serve on the Caribbean Society Hotel Association Executive Board 2018 – 2020:
•  Chair Women – Gilda Gumbs-Samuel, Executive Director – Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association
•  President – Stacy Cox, Executive Director – Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association
•  Vice President – Brian Frontin, CEO – Trinidad Hotels, Restaurant & Tourism Association
•  Treasurer – Miles Mercera, President and CEO – Curacao Hospitality & Tourism Association
•  Secretary – Clarisa Jimenez, President and CEO – Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association
Other members elected to the CSHAE Board of Directors include:
•  Avril Alexander, Executive Director– BVI Chamber of Commerce & Hotel Association
•  Tessie Duran Tonaco, Marketing Director – Belize Hotel Association
•  Lisa Hamilton, President – US Virgin Hotel & Tourism Association
The above Board will not only take up the torch to move on with top priorities above but will also be active in CHTA Committee meetings and task forces in Advocacy, Education and Training, Marketing and Membership.  Each area will be represented with two CSHAE Board members to follow through any actions needed to build a better Caribbean as well as keep the other Executives informed of new issues, sharing best practices and facilitate with CHTA the best options to care for the 32 countries.  CSHAE President, Stacy Cox, thanked the executives for their continued support and looks forward to chartering new directions to complete the top priorities one at a time with a team that is willing to work hard.
