Six bartenders to be selected for November 10 prelims ahead of 2020 Global Championship

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (September 23, 2019) – Bartenders and mixologists from across the Caribbean are encouraged to apply to qualify for the 10th ANGOSTURA® Global Cocktail Challenge (AGCC), on February 23, 2020 in Trinidad.

Caribbean entrants have until Thursday, October 10, 2019 to submit their written and video applications at https://angosturaglobalcocktailchallenge.com/how-to-enter, after which six of them will go on to the regional competition on November 10, 2019, in Barbados.

The Challenge is now open for mixologists from Anguilla, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Martin, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Turks & Caicos and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The all-Caribbean winner will then compete in the global finale, to shake- or stir-it against international competitors vying for US$10,000 as well as a two-year contract as the ANGOSTURA Global Brand Ambassador, showcasing ANGOSTURA bitters and rum products.

The 2020 Global Cocktail Challenge will be held during Trinidad and Tobago’s carnival, also known as “The greatest show on earth”.

All finalists will be treated to a tour of the ANGOSTURA Distillery and Museum and other cultural experiences, including visits to local steel pan yards and the chance to “play mas” in full regalia on Carnival Tuesday.

The ANGOSTURA Global Cocktail Challenge has taken place periodically since 2001. The most recent champion Ray Letoa, a bartender from New Zealand, topped 10 other bartenders from around the world in 2018 to produce “Deliciousness”, an Amaro Cocktail using Amaro di ANGOSTURA® and “Old Flame”, a Rum Cocktail, using ANGOSTURA 1824®; two dashes each of ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters and ANGOSTURA® orange bitters.
