In 2015, Islands Magazine partnered with Bonnier Custom Insights to conduct the Best of the Caribbean Survey. Thirty-five islands were evaluated across 12 categories including family-friendliness, beaches, romance, food, and more. In total, the survey yielded 40,000 island evaluations.
Here’s what Islands’ audience of Caribbean enthusiasts thought about family-friendly destinations in the region. According to Islands’ 2015 Best of the Caribbean Survey, the following islands were ranked “Best Caribbean Islands for Families” in regards to easy access, safety, kid-friendly resorts/resort activities, and family excursions:
1) Aruba
2) Cayman Islands
3) Turks & Caicos
4) Bahamas
5) US Virgin Islands
6) Costa Rica
7) Barbados
8) Puerto Rico
9) Cozumel, Mexico
10) Dominican Republic
97% of respondents find that the family-friendly options available in the Caribbean islands meet their travel-planning needs. When asked what they appreciated most about the Caribbean islands, responses included:
“Ability to roam safe for families” – Aruba
“A lot of family friendly hotels with lots of activities for parents and children.” – Bahamas
“A number of “action oriented” resorts for families” – US Virgin Islands
“All the activities – good for active family with kids” – Costa Rica
