Earth Day at Divi Resorts

Divi Resorts operates eight resorts spanning across the Caribbean. Each resort is committed to operating in accordance with the company-wide Divi Green Initiatives Policy. Throughout the year, Divi Resorts participates in beach cleanups and host events that benefit environmental protection agencies.

Earth Day Beach Clean Up at Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort, Aruba
Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort will be hosting an Earth Day beach clean up at 7:30 pm on April 22. They will also be planting additional trees to their gardens and grounds. Although Divi Phoenix Beach Resort organizes regular beach cleanups throughout the year, both resort guests and local marine wildlife are looking forward to the added environmental enthusiasm and participation for the Earth Day beach cleanup.

Earth Day Water Testing at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort, St. Maarten
In celebration of Earth Day, Divi Little Bay Beach Resort will test the quality of the ocean waters in front of their resort as part of their ongoing commitment to E.P.I.C (Environmental Protection in the Caribbean) and the Blue Flag eco-label program. Divi Little Bay Beach Resort is Blue Flag certified, meaning they meet the Foundation for Environmental Education’s high standards for water quality, safety, environmental education and information. Divi Little Bay Beach Resort also recently partnered with the Nature Foundation to host their annual Underwater Easter Egg Hunt. This year’s event had approximately 550 people in attendance and 230 participants. All of the proceeds from this event go directly to the Nature Foundation.

Protecting Sea Turtles at Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino, Bonaire
Divi Flamingo Beach Resort has adopted a sea turtle nest for Earth Day in partnership with Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire (STCB). As a 2016 sponsor, the money donated by Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino will help STCB to protect a specific nest’s eggs from drowning if water floods the nest area, and to help release any newborn turtles that become trapped underground during hatching. The donation will also support the popular Beach Keepers Program, a volunteer network that works with STCB to collect information about the status of Bonaire’s sea turtle populations, so that nests can be protected more efficiently in the future.
